Rosemary was awarded a BAFTA for Best New Writer for her feature length film: This Little Life, produced by Stewart Mackinnon (Headline Pictures/BBC Film) and directed by Sarah Gavron. Shown to critical acclaim at International Festivals, it was awarded the Jury Prize for Best Debut Feature at the Toronto Film Festival, won Best Film at the Banff TV awards, in Canada, and was awarded a special Prix Europa. At the Royal Television Awards, it won Best Single Drama. It was nominated for Best Single Drama for the BAFTA awards and was nominated for best film in the BFI Awards.

Immersive Experiences:
Dr Rose Kay founded Gazooky Studios in 2017 to create immersive cinematic experiences, using new XR technology and geospatial tech to tell screen-based stories in new locations. Having won several R&D grants with Innovate UK, DfT and FCDO, and funded bby the European Space Agency, the company explores innovative ways to lead audiences with story-based audio and screen experiences, along coastal paths, through the underground cells of prison museums, on long-distance train journeys or even on boats as they cross the oceans. As CEO of the company, Rose brings the production quality of high-end film and TV to the new disciplines of VR, AR and XR.
Radio and Film
In 1996 Rosemary won the Alfred Bradley Bursary. Her radio play, Wilde Belles won a Sony Award and the Richard Imison Award.

Books
Rosemary’s first book, Between Two Eternities, was published in 2000 by Headline in the UK. Saul was published by Random House in Canada, and St Martin’s Press in America, and has been translated into several languages. She won the BBC 2 Dennis Potter Award in 2002 for her adaptation of the story into film: This Little Life. It was republished in 2024 as Saul: Between Two Eternities
Rosemary was a scholar at the University of Manchester, having been awarded the President’s Doctoral Award, where she gained her PhD.
